![]() ![]() I still remember how blown away I was by Mortal Kombat 9 back in 2011. Personally, I consider the modern trend of making more robust and plot based single player experiences in fighting games as a great development for the genre. As a person who doesn’t care much for multiplayer games, fighting games were always short-lived experiences for me with a few noteworthy exceptions such as Smash Bros. I have played many fighting games, and continue to, but never at a super serious level. Yet I don’t consider myself at higher than the level of casual for fighting games as a whole. ![]() as a fighting game, because of how different it is from the rest of the genre. I’m such an OG that it took me a long time to even consider Smash Bros. I have also sampled many fighting games, big and small, from franchises I ultimately don’t take seriously such as King of Fighters, BlazBlue, and Skullgirls. I have played countless fighters in my career as a gamer, going all the way back to the original Mortal Kombat, Dead or Alive, Street Fighter, and Virtua Fighter, among other longstanding franchises in the genre. The fighting game genre is a bit hard for me to quantify on a personal level. ![]()
